Young Leaders Unit

Dear Explorer / Young Leader

Firstly, Thank You for your efforts as young leaders in supporting our younger sections and helping our younger people to grow and become the people they are becoming. It is great to know we have the support and energy of people like you to help this happen! I hope that you are getting as much out of helping with our younger sections as they are getting from you being there with them.

As part of the district our young leaders unit is important to us to ensure you get the most out of being a young leader and achieve your full potential including assisting with you achieving prestigious awards such as DofE, Chief Scout and Queen Scout awards, to name a few.

In order to continue or commence as a young leader, it is important that you register as an explorer with the district and receive some training, some of which is mandatory, to enable you to be safe and effective in your role. In order to ensure you are registered and receive the first stage of training you are invited to attend Module A: Prepare for take off which will be held at the following location:

9.00am – 12.00pm, Saturday 1st April 2017

St Anne’s (Stanley) Church, Cheadle Avenue, off Prescot Road, Old Swan, L13 3AE

Module A is the only mandatory module which must be undertaken and therefore it is essential that you attend this event and register on the scheme.

The session will involve a variety of presentation, videos, group interaction and a question and answer session. The morning will hopefully be fun and interesting and follow the following timetable:

9.00 – 9.15 Registration and Breakfast

9.15 – 9.30 Welcome and Ice Breaker

9.30 – 12.00 Introduction to the Young Leader scheme and Module A: Prepare for take off!

In order to speed up the first part of the morning, please can you complete as much as possible the attached registration form, and bring this along with you. If there is anything you are unsure about, either ask your section leader or leave this blank and we can fill it in on the day.

I hope to see you all at this event however I understand that some of you might already have some commitments which cannot be rearranged. If this is the case, please can you let me know via the details below and we can arrange for alternative sessions to accommodate, numbers permitting.
