Risk management for several commodities (Q56)
Systematics of rust fungi of agricultural importance.
Provides support in identification of rust fungi.
Resolves nomenclatural problems in rust fungi.
Host range of Soybean Rust (collecting trips to various countries: Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Panama).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Developed interactive web-based key for identification of rusts on legumes (http://nt.ars-grin.gov/taxadescriptions/keys/LegumeRustsIndex.cfm), key for identification of rust species in the genus Ravenelia (http://nt.ars-grin.gov/taxadescriptions/keys/RaveneliaIndex.cfm), and Invasive Fungi web site (http://nt.ars-grin.gov/sbmlweb/onlineresources/fungionline.cfm).
Knowledge of plant biology and taxonomy.
