GUIDELINES FOR FUNDRAISING

  • Plan fundraisers carefully.

  • All fundraisers must have campus principal’s and area superintendent’s approval prior to contracts being signed or orders being placed. In addition, ALL school-wide fundraiser incentive programs must be approved by the appropriate Area Superintendent.

  • Do not plan for Moon Walks, Pony Rides, Amusement Rides, water sports or activities, etc. When in doubt, check with the Director of Risk Management for approval before proceeding.

  • Have contracts reviewed by the appropriate Area Superintendent prior to signing. Specifically avoid contracts which ask that the district indemnify them or contain a “hold harmless” clause.

  • Door-to-door selling by students is prohibited.

  • Should not involve charging students or staff for the right or privilege to wear articles of clothing (jeans, caps, crazy socks, t-shirts, etc.).

  • Typically should not involve charging students for participating in a school activity held within the instructional day.

  • No cash incentives (including checks) may be given. Coupons or gift certificates to the students are acceptable incentives (including “mall money”).

  • Reward parties as a group incentive must be done in a reasonable manner - 30 minutes maximum if during instructional time.

  • If reward parties are off campus, Alief transportation must be used with adequate number of chaperones (1 to 10 ratio suggested). Limo rides are not to be used as incentives.
