LIDS19 Syllabus



PURPOSE: To develop speaking and listening skills in Mandarin.


MATERIAL ASSIGNED:

Mango Connect Language Learning Program: Mango Languages

Mango can be accessed from any campus computer, but will not work from computers using a Web Proxy, VPN, or private IP addresses.


RESTRICTION: None


MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF CREDIT AVAILABLE: 4 units


METHOD OF STUDY:

Login to Mango Connect website (see above). If doing this for the first time, you will need to create a profile.

Click on “all languages” and select your language from the list. Then click on “Get Started.”

Select the appropriate chapter at the top of the page.

Work through all of the lessons in each chapter.


EXAMINATION:

The supervisor says the English version of sentences chosen at random from conversations in the assigned material; the student says the Mandarin equivalent. The grade is based on both fluency and accuracy. All

exams are 30 minutes. Final is not cumulative.

Block 2: Chapters 6-10

Block 3: Chapters 11-15

Block 4: Chapters 16-20
