NDHIA elects directors, officers

St. Pete Beach, Florida – Delegates to the National Dairy Herd Information Association (NDHIA) Annual Meeting elected the following individuals from their respective regions as NDHIA board representatives.

Eastern Region: Richard Kimball, Spencer, Mass., was elected to a three-year term, replacing Marty Van Gorden, Hamilton, Ohio, who retired after seven years as a board member. Kimball is a dairy producer who has served as the Vermont DHIA president, Massachusetts Cooperative Milk Producers Federation secretary/treasurer, and a Worcester Farm Bureau director.

Central Region: incumbent Lee Maassen, Dairy Lab Services, Maurice, Iowa, was re-elected to a three-year term. Maassen manages and operates a dairy farm located near Maurice Iowa.

Western Region: Neil Hoffman, Tempe, Ariz., was elected to a three-year term as a manager on the board. Hoffman, a former dairy producer, is currently the Arizona DHIA manager. As a dairy producer, he served as the Arizona DHIA president and previously on the NDHIA board.

Other board members include Mark Adam, NorthStar Cooperative, Lansing, Mich.; Dan Sheldon, Dairy One, Salem, N.Y.; Steve Hershey, Lancaster DHIA, Manheim, Pa.; Kent Buttars, Rocky Mountain DHIA, Lewiston, Utah; Greg Marrs, Colorado DHIA, Fort Lupton, Colo.; Bob McKaig, Indiana State Dairy Association, Logansport, Ind.; James Zimmerman, Dairy One, Ithaca, N.Y.; and John Clay, Dairy Records Management Systems, Raleigh, N.C., as the Dairy Records Processing Center ex-officio board member.

At the NDHIA board reorganization meeting, the following officers were elected for 2007: President Mark Adam, Vice President Dan Sheldon, Secretary Steve Hershey and Treasurer Lee Maassen.

The 2008 NDHIA Annual Meeting will be held in Texas, with dates and location to be determined.
