Overview: Season Three

Shifting and Stirring is led by a collective of leading Australian arts institutions and artists working with children and families.

We are collectively investing in the presentation of a series of online sessions for the artists and industry within which we work. This is in the spirit of finding a space to connect and share in this evolving landscape and across the many lands we exist upon - Noongar Boodja to Wurundjeri to Kaurna and beyond.

Each session:

Wednesday 21 April at 11am AEDT / 9am AWST

Queensland Performing Arts Centre: Lia Pa'apa'a and Merindi Schrieber

A Creative License to Re-imagine

How do you engage and create mama-baba friendly creative spaces? Lia and Merindi will share the Ngamumu journey of creating culturally safe spaces and meaningful arts practices for this audience. A global conversation - this session will challenge the boundaries in forming greater access for mamas and babas - giving them a Licence to Re-Imagine and Re-invigorate child-rearing practices through creative lenses.

Wednesday 12 May at 1pm AEDT / 11am AWST

Sydney Opera House: Roy Weiland

PORTRAIT: The subtext of identity (What the hell does that mean?)

Through a series of creative processes (derived from the Theatre of the Oppressed) design sprint thinking and free writing exercises. Roy will guide us on a collaborative journey to find our own truths on the topic of identity. We will share tools on how to find moments of honesty from our collaborators, subjects and maybe within ourselves?
