O ne Voice Wales Larger Councils Conference

One Voice Wales is holding its first Larger Councils Conference that includes an excellent range of speakers, information on work programmes of relevance to larger councils and workshops on innovative practice being carried out by Larger Councils across Wales – certainly something to whet everyone’s appetite!
Guest speakers include:
Mr Peter Davies OBE, Sustainable Futures Commissioner for Wales who will talk about the Sustainable Development Bill and the SD Duty that will take effect in 2017 for the community and town council sector and set out some of the implications and challenges facing larger councils.
Mr Daniel Hurford, Head of Policy (Improvement and Governance) at the WLGA who will talk about the relationships between Unitary Authorities and the community and town council sector and future partnership working opportunities
Mr Richard Penn, Chair of the Independent Remuneration Panel for Wales who will talk about the work of the body and implications for larger councils in Wales
A diverse range of subjects will be addressed via the workshops sessions including:
Welsh Governments Cynefin Programme in Wales
One Voice Wales work with partners on Climate Adaptation
UnLtd will provide a session on how councils can help identify and work with social
entrepreneurs across Wales
Vision ICT and Pear will run a session in ICT developments in the sector relevant to Larger Councils
And in the afternoon Innovative Practice sessions will cover:
Penarth Town Councils Green Audit work programme
Llandrindod Wells Town Councils work on community engagement which has been supported by Welsh Government
Mold Town Council work on Cittaslow and how this is helping to regenerate the town
Exhibitors - A range of exhibitors will be there on the day providing details of services relevant to Larger Councils. Simultaneous translation from Welsh into English will be provided and there is free parking for 100 cars.
