Amendment of the Common Regulations: Establishment of

Administrative Instructions

1 During its thirty-third session (September 24 to October 3, 2001), the Assembly of the Madrid Union adopted a number of amendments to the Common Regulations under the Madrid Agreement and Protocol.

2 A document showing all the changes to the Common Regulations has been available on WIPO’s website at the following address: http://www.wipo.int, under the headings “Activities and Services/International Marks/Legal Texts” since October 2001. The new consolidated text is now available there, together with the new Administrative Instructions.

3 The most significant changes to the Common Regulations were described in the Information Notice No. 17/2001. Separate information notices concerning amendments in the contents of international applications, licenses and refusals are being published concurrently with the present notice.

4 A revised version of the Guide to the International Registration of Marks under the Madrid Agreement and Protocol will be published shortly and be made available on WIPO’s website.
