BACKGROUND

In order to strengthen technological exchange and cooperation between China (Baise, Guangxi) and ASEAN countries in the field of agriculture, the Department of Science and Technology of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region decides to host The Forum on Modern Agricultural International S&T Cooperation Base for ASEAN states, which is organized by the Baise Modern Agricultural Technology Research and Promotion Center, and co- organized by China-ASEAN Technology Transfer Center. This forum will be held from 15^th to 20^th, September, in Baise, Guangxi, China.

FORUM INTRODUCTION

Objectives

To enhance the level of exchange and cooperation between China and ASEAE countries;
To promote agriculture industry in Baise to be in line with international standard;
To promote the agricultural production management level and market competitiveness of agricultural products;
To promote the agriculture efficiency and productivity.

APPLICATION QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should

1. Be friendly towards China,

2. Have a Bachelor’s Degree or above,

3. Have a minimum of 3 years’ working experience in agriculture or relative field,

4. Be capable of speaking and writing in English,

5. Be born after 1968 (1968 included), the principal and academic leaders will be allowed after 1965.

6. Pregnant woman is not suggested.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

1. GBMATRPC (Guangxi Baise Modern Agricultural Technology Research and Promotion Centre) will send a pre-invitation and necessary information about this forum to your relevant government agency, including application qualifications and so on.

2. After receiving this letter, you must submit valid application form and relevant papers to your related government agency of your country; the related government agency will examine and recommend to us by official recommendation. Above work must be completed before 30^th, August.

3. After receiving official recommendation, GBMATRPC (Guangxi Baise Modern Agricultural Technology Research and Promotion Centre) will filtrate and decide the list of participants of this forum, and then report to higher authorities. When it is approved, GBMATRPC (Guangxi Baise Modern Agricultural Technology Research and Promotion Centre) will send an official invitation to the correlative governmental agency of your country, and it will send the official invitation to you (if you are passed).

4. After receiving the official invitation, participants must do these works as follow:

Firstly, you must reply us to make sure you will attend this forum or not;

Secondly, please order air tickets and sent the information about your air tickets as soon as possible to the organizer;

Thirdly, participants need to submit at least one technology demand of your country or unit relating to the forum theme; and designate a representative to deliver speech at the opening ceremony of this forum;

Fourth, all participants should attend the China-ASEAN S&T B2B Matchmaking( Modern Agriculture) and The Advanced Technology Exhibition of the 12^th China-ASEAN Expo China from 18^th to19^th, September as required, and each participant needs to submit at least one relevant technology demand, so that CATTC could arrange your promotion in the China-ASEAN S&T B2B Matchmaking( Modern Agriculture). Above work must be completed before 4th, September.

5. Participants should prepare visas, passports and other related formalities, so as to attend this forum on time.

EXPENSES

1. Chinese government will pay the transportation fare for your international travel from participant’s country to Nanning (Airplane/cross-border bus/train).

2. Chinese government will pay the accommodation, local transportation, and registration and training expenses during this Forum.

3. Participants are advised to bring some pocket money for personal purpose, such as distance call, daily necessities and so on.

We will pick participants up in Nanning Wuxu International Airport or China-Vietnam boundary.

GENERAL INTRODUCTION OF GBMATRAPC

Guangxi Baise Modern Agricultural Technology Research and Promotion Centre (GBMATRAPC), founded by People’s Government of Baise Municipality, is the main Sci-tech research and development agency of Baise city. It consists of R&D Center, Quality Safe Testing Center, and Biological Tissue Culture Center and so on. It has recruited more than 50 high-level agricultural experts, with a strong modern agricultural science and technology R&D capabilities. 2 major national science and technology projects and 12 provincial major science and technology projects have been undertaken. These have received a number of national and provincial science and technology progress awards.

For many years, GBMATRAPC has attached great importance to talent training, with great efforts to training base construction, which including conference center, accommodation center, experimental and demonstration bases, entertainment centre etc. The conference center could hold 200 persons; the accommodation center could accommodate 300 people for dining and 200 persons for lodging at the same time. The total area of experimental and demonstration bases is 53 hectares, including mango germplasm resources garden; cherry tomatoes standardized planting base; 20 hectares of modern agriculture demonstration garden; 12,000 square meters of modern agricultural sightseeing park etc. This training base sets meeting, training, teaching practice, visit and other in one, providing a good environment for foreign training and exchanges.
