Deputy Chief Tracy Hahn

Deputy Chief Hahn has been a law enforcement officer since she began her career with The Ohio State University Police Division (OSUPD) in September 1990. During that time then Officer Hahn was part of a team that created the bicycle patrol for the University Police and a member of the Special Response Team. In 1993 DC Hahn joined the Upper Arlington Police Division (UAPD) as an officer. Over the years, she worked in the Patrol, Investigations, and Training Sections, and the Support Services Bureau. Tracy was promoted to Sergeant in 2001, Lieutenant in 2015, and Chief of Police in 2016. Chief Hahn was the first female to hold each of those positions with the UAPD since its inception in 1927. Chief Hahn retired from the UAPD in September 2018 before taking the position of Deputy Chief with the OSUPD in October of 2018.


Deputy Chief Hahn earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from The Ohio State University and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Tiffin University. She is a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership College (PELC), Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, and the Ohio Law Enforcement Foundation’s Certified Law Enforcement Executive (CLEE) program, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy (FBINA).


Deputy Chief Hahn supervises the Support Services Bureau and Patrol Operations Captain. The Ohio State University Police Division is a full-service law enforcement agency of 60 sworn officers and four (4) civilian employees serving the University community of 100, 000 students, staff and faculty on the Columbus, Ohio campus. The Division was reaccredited through Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) for the second time in June 2020. The OSUPD has five (5) Regional Campuses that also policed by University Law Enforcement Officers under the supervision of Deputy Chief Hahn.


Deputy Chief Hahn is a member of the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP), International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the FBINA Associates, and the Franklin County Chiefs Association. Deputy Chief Hahn is an active member of Kiwanis, serving as President, President-Elect and Secretary over the years. She has been mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio for over 15 years. She is a founding member of the Bigs in Blue program which matches at risk youth with law enforcement officers. Deputy Chief Hahn is also a volunteer with the Veteran Companion Animal Services (VCAS).

OACP recommends that biographical information regarding Assessment Team members be provided by the Client to the candidates in advance of the date of the Assessment Center to offer them an opportunity to identify any potential conflicts of interest. It is also recommended that the bios be provided to candidates as far in advance as possible, but at least 14 days prior to the Assessment Center.”
