Re: Official Community Plan Review: Bonus Density Allocations
At its February 21, 2011 meeting, the FGCA Planning and Zoning Committee met with Ms Mary Doody-Jones upon a referral from the FGCA Board. Ms Doody-Jones made a presentation to the Committee regarding the practice of allocating bonus density to certain projects in return for the provision of specific amenities. After discussion, the Committee made the following motion which is now sent to you for consideration in your review of the Official Community Plan:
“That the FGCA Planning and Zoning Committee request that, in the upcoming review of the Victoria OCP, City Council develop some logical criteria to aid in the assessment and evaluation of any bonus densities. Such criteria should relate to the amenities offered in such a way as to justify, economically and socially, the density increases gained , within the framework of detailed financial information relating to both the project under consideration and the extra amenities so offered.”
