BUREAU OF HEALTH INFORMATION
The Bureau of Health Information (the Bureau) conducts research and analyses to provide independent reports to government and the community on the performance of NSW health services.
Reporting to a Board, the Chief Executive leads and manages a high performing specialist team in the areas of research, information management and statistics, innovation and communications, and oversees the production of high quality and independent information products. The Chief Executive develops effective relationships with health entities such as in NSW the Clinical Excellence Commission, Cancer Institute, Agency for Clinical Innovation, and nationally with the National Health Performance Authority, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare and the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care. The position develops key relationships with information analysis and reporting units within the NSW Ministry of Health to provide high level advice to the Bureau Board, the Minister for Health and the Director-General, NSW Health.
Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated experience and understanding of the process of government and the ability to develop effective working relationships with the Board, the Minister, the Director-General NSW Health, Deputy Director-Generals, the Chief Executives of the Pillars, Local Health Districts and other relevant health entities
Understanding of the nature and role of health system performance measurement, analysis and reporting that can increase health care quality and improve care outcomes for patients and the community
Ability to lead and manage a team of data management, information analysis and reporting professionals
Understanding of the structure and operation of health systems in Australia and contemporary issues in performance reporting in the health sector
High level media and communication skills
