Dear Parents and Carers,

Yesterday the new Principal, Mr Brendan Dawson, came to introduce himself to the staff and children. Brendan comes to us with an excellent reputation and we are very excited to have attracted a high quality principal.

As you know, Glengarry Primary School is considered to be a high performing school.

Our staff are widely recognised as being amongst the most professional and committed teachers in the profession. Over the last 18 months we have had staff seconded to regional and state-level positions, presented at state-wide conferences and our school has been recognised by leaders across Victoria. Our staff have all been involved in high level leadership courses to develop their skills and knowledge. As a result, our teachers are now highly sought after by other schools. So, it is with a mixture of pride and sadness that we announce some changes to our staffing next year.

Sally Darby will be leaving, as she has been appointed Deputy Principal at St Gabriel’s Primary School. We are really pleased for Sally, as this is a significant promotion for her.

Charlotte Missen will also be leaving to take up a position at Grey Street Primary School for 12 months. Charlotte has been teaching at Glengarry for all of her teaching career and has recognised an opportunity to extend her leadership skills by widening her experience.

Sarah Bickley is taking 12 months leave, as her husband has been appointed to a new position, so they will be moving interstate together.

We will also welcome two new graduate teachers, which forms part of our succession planning. Ingrid Morgan is coming to us from Tarwin Valley PS and Dani Fletcher is beginning her teaching career at Glengarry. We are very pleased to be able to support them both at the beginning of their careers.

We currently have two permanent teacher positions advertised and are confident that we can attract high quality staff to fill these vacancies.

The ongoing staff at Glengarry are confident in ensuring the school vision and values will carry on. They will continue to lead the excellent work we already do in teaching and learning.

Some schools become known as a ‘breeding ground’ for high quality leadership and we are very proud that Glengarry Primary has become one of those schools.
