CHAIN DISK COMMUNICATION ALARMS

CHAIN DISK COMMUNICATION ALARMS

When using Master-Slave combinations, there is communication between the master and slave by way of a pair of wires between the two controls. In the master the wires are connected from terminals labeled MODULE 1 & 2 and in the slave they are connected to terminals labeled COMM 1 & 2. We recommend 18 gauge shielded twisted pair. Do not allow the communication wires to run next to other power wires; make sure there is at least 12” of separation.

Possible Communication Alarm causes are as follows:

(1) Make sure that terminal 1’s are connected to terminal 1’s and terminal 2’s are connected to terminal 2’s.

(2) Make sure the proper slave ID dip switch located on the slave bottom board is turned on.

(3) Check in both master and slave to see if red LED’s are blinking. If one is not, the problem is probably that board, either master or slave. If you have other master or slave tops, try placing a known good top on the board that is not blinking to make sure it is not the top before you replace the bottom.

(4) Make sure that you have programmed the APCD-500 correctly in the installation section of the control.
