EXPRESSION OF INTEREST TO HOST THE 10TH ASIA PACIFIC


Expression of Interest to Host the 10th Asia Pacific Mediation Forum (APMF) Conference. Applications due by March 28, 2020.


The Asia Pacific Mediation Forum (APMF) Executive Committee will select the country for its 10th Regional Conference in 2021 from among all the possible candidates, basing its decision on which country, organisation and venue offers the best conditions and the best assurances of success.


Please provide us with as much information as possible to assist us with our selection using this form as a guide.


We anticipate that the Convener will be a member of the APMF and will be coopted onto the Executive Committee. It is also anticipated that the range of relevant individuals, groups and associations who are involved in mediation and other forms of dispute resolution within the country selected will be informed about, and where possible included in the planning for the conference.


Submissions should briefly address the following aspects:


  1. Information about the the Submitting Organization.

Please provide the:

  1. Name, website address and email address of the association(s) or organization(s) that will host the conference.

  2. Name of the President or Chief Executive Officer and email address.

  3. Proposed name and email address of the Conference Convenor. This person must be a member of APMF and committed to the APMF’s general philosophy and will be co-opted onto the APMF Executive Committee if appointed (APMF Membership forms are available on the APMF website – www.asiapacificmediationforum.org).

  4. Possible names of associated individuals and organisations within your country who will be invited to be involved on the Conference Organizing Committee or to support the conference in other ways.

  5. Names of associates who are APMF members or who have participated in prior APMF conferences.

  6. List of activities such as seminars, courses, conferences, congresses etc that the proposed organization has previously hosted including related topics covered and number of attendees.

  7. An outline of some of the attractions of the location for tourists, including partners of the participants.

2. References.

  1. Please list the name of organizations or associations who have expressed an interest in sponsoring or participating in the Conference if it is held in your country (eg. universities, government bodies, professional associations, business and community sector etc.) or who you propose to contact. If possible include letters of support and the names of the authorities.

  2. Please list other local/regional/national dispute resolution associations in your country who you plan to contact with regard to the conference, stating whether you have formal or informal links.

  3. Please list international mediation organizations who you plan to contact stating whether you have formal or informal links.

3. Financial resources.

  1. Do you already have financial resources and an appropriate venue to host the conference?


  1. Will you need to apply for funding? How will you go about this? How can we assist?


  1. Will you be prepared to negotiate and sign a version of the attached contract? (Detail your considerations or concerns – this contract is negotiable.)


4. Characteristics of the Conference.


  1. What location and site do you propose for the conduct of the conference.


  1. Do you have any preliminary suggestions for the dates of the conference?


  1. Do you have any preliminary suggestions for a theme for the conference? (The themes for past conferences are available on the APMF website).


  1. Is there information about the APMF and its previous Conferences that you may need other than what is on the APMF website? For example, would you want to hold pre-conference workshops run by paid expert mediators/trainers for an additional participant fee. If so, would your Conference Organisers be willing to assist with that and share any profits with the APMF?


  1. Do you need an official letter from the APMF that may help you to prepare your final proposal?
