Human Rights Implementation Centre
Elizabeth Mottershaw is an independent human rights consultant with a focus on poverty and armed conflict. Elizabeth completed her MPhil in Middle Eastern Studies at Oxford. From 1998-2008 she worked at Amnesty International, firstly as a researcher in the Middle East program and subsequently as a policy adviser. During her time at Amnesty she took a sabbatical to study at the London School of Economics for an LLM in Public International Law, specialising in human rights law and the laws of armed conflict. In 2007 she was seconded to work as deputy director of Amnesty’s Africa Program. Elizabeth has lectured on international law and human rights for the University of Tulsa. As a consultant Elizabeth has worked with a number of organisations including the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, London Metropolitan University and the UK’s Equality and Human Rights Commission.
She is currently working on a research project with the School of Law’s Human Rights Implementation Centre. The project is looking at domestic mechanisms for the implementation of human rights judgments and decisions.
