MEMORIAL OPTIONS

Before making the final decision about the resting place of your loved one's cremated remains and type of memorial, we strongly advise you to come to the office and talk to the staff, who will be happy to explain the different options and show you the gardens.
There are two main options for cremated remains. These are whether you wish to keep the cremated remains together and therefore would prefer a burial of cremated remains or whether the cremated remains should be buried loosely into one of our 4 gardens which is known as a dispersal. Please note on no account can the place of dispersal be identified with a memorial.
Once the choice has been made families' can then decide whether they wish to witness the dispersal/burial of cremated remains. A charge will be made for this. Please see our fees list for the cost.
Norse Road Garden of Remembrance is divided into the four seasons - Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, the planting in each area is designed to be at its best during that season. Cremated remains are dispersed in the borders of each seasonal garden. Each Garden/area has its own type of memorial which families can purchase for their loved ones. Please note that if you choose to have cremated remains dispersed in the Summer Garden for example, this does not mean you cannot purchase a memorial in another garden.
Please note only memorials purchased from the Borough Council will be allowed in the Garden of Remembrance. If you place extra items such as vases, statues etc in the gardens where the cremated remains were disperse, or on pathways in front of your purchased memorial, these will be removed by staff.
AUTUMN GARDEN
The memorials in the Autumn Garden are Kerb Plaques, which have a sandstone base with a black granite plaque which can have up to six lines of inscription. The inscription is in gold and the kerb has a small flower holder on top. You could also choose to have a photo plaque or
inscribed picture, such as a rose at an extra cost. A single plaque takes a maximum inscription of 6 lines with 18 characters. You can also reserve a space adjacent to your inscribed plaque.
Winter Garden
This Garden was the first garden to be established when
the cemetery opened in 1987. In 2010 Bereavement Services introduced a new style of memorial for the Winter Garden. The Vase Block and Tablets. These are Grey granite blocks with a black granite plaque inscribed in silver lettering. The price will include the inscription up to a maximum of 6 lines with 18 characters per line. There is also a silver container to hold a full bunch of flowers. You can also reserve a space next to an existing Vase Block.
SPRING GARDEN
There are several memorials available in the Spring Garden overlooking the pond.
There are Single or Double Wall Plaques. These are black granite with gold lettering and are placed on the wall facing the pond in the Spring Garden. The Single Wall Plaque can take a maximum of 4 lines with 25 characters per line. The Double Wall Plaque can take a maximum of 8 lines with 25 characters per line. Families usually choose to leave the bottom half of a double plaque

GARDEN BURIAL PLOTS
These burial plots are situated behind the administrative building adjacent to the Garden of Remembrance. Each plot can accommodate up to three wooden caskets or bio-degradeable urns (available at Norse Road) and are for the interment of cremated remains. A memorial may be placed on the plot providing the

SANCTUM 2000
The Sanctum 2000 is a free-standing vault, with a black granite cover inscribed with gold lettering. Families can choose to have ornamentation on the cover such as a photo plaque or inscribed pictures at an extra cost. They accommodate two sets of cremated remains which must be in a polycontainer. The cost of each Sanctum includes 80 let
ters, the first interment and the Exclusive Right of Burial for 75 years. Further charges will be incurred with the second interment and additional inscription. The Sanctums are located along the far side of the Garden of Remembrance at Norse Road and also in Foster Hill Road Cemetery.
BABY MEMORIALS
Norse Road Garden of Remembrance now has a designated area for baby memorials which is situated on the far side of the Garden of Remembrance near the Sanctums.
These plaques are on a lease for 15 years and come in 3 styles - Teddy Bear, Train or a Heart and are inscribed in gold lettering.
Norse Road Cemetery also has a Woodland/Meadow dispersal/Burial area, which is situated behind the Crematorium. Cremated Remains can be dispersed in the tree belt of this area and either a wooden or cast bronze tree/rose plaque can be purchased to dedicate the tree near where the cremated remains were dispersed. We also have available small cremated
remains plot just like the garden burial plots in the Remembrance garden whereby you can plant a small shrub as a memorial.
