Art. 1

Introductory Provisions


(1) Lifelong Learning Rules and Regulations of the University of Defence (hereinafter only “rules and regulations”) is an internal norm of the University of Defence (hereinafter only “UoD”) in conformity with § 17 of the Act No 111/1998 Dig. on universities and on changes and amendments of other laws (University Act) as amended by subsequent regulations (hereinafter only “Act”).


(2) Rules and regulations determine general rules for lifelong learning provided at faculties and other components of the UoD.


(3) Details on studies in lifelong learning programmes define:

a) internal norm of the faculty or the UoD component that provide the lifelong

learning programme, or

  1. a guideline of a particular dean or director of the institute.


(4) The Study and Examination Rules and Regulations for UoD Students, that the provider is obliged to abide by, refer adequately to studies within the lifelong learning programmes.



Art.2

Lifelong Learning


(1) The term “lifelong learning” (hereinafter only “LLL”) includes such types of education that enable its participants to acquire, to enrich or to brush up knowledge, skills, a qualification and a competency to carry out a specific activity. The UoD educational activities that complete and develop education in accredited study programmes and research belong to the LLL category.


(2) Education and training according to par. 1 is open to interested persons disregarding their age, professional orientation and preceding education.


(3) The LLL participant (hereinafter only “participant”) is not a student by law.



Art. 3

Lifelong Learning Programme


(1) Faculties and other components of the UoD run LLL programmes within the framework of their educational and specialized activities.


(2) Studies in the LLL programme can be realized in full-time, distance or combined forms, particularly as:

  1. career education

  2. third-age university courses

  3. specialized courses, refresher courses, extended-qualifications, follow-up studies

  4. thematic studies – a course, a specialized concentration training, a lecture, a series of lectures or a seminar.


(3) The LLL program is run by the provider, which can be:

  1. any UoD faculty,

  2. another UoD component,

  3. a combination of components mentioned under letters a) and b).


(4) The LLL programmes are announced by a dean or by a director of a particular component.


(5) Information on the LLL programme and admission requirements must be published in an ordinary manner and in an appropriate amount of time in advance and an LLL applicant (hereinafter only “applicant”) must have the opportunity to become acquainted with them.



Art. 4

Admissions Procedure


(1) An applicant is admitted by a dean or a director according to capacity possibilities of the provider. The provider specifies admission conditions and the number of admitted applicants.


(2) Those applicants who have fulfilled admission conditions specified by the provider can be admitted to the study within the scope of LLL programmes. Through the admission the applicant becomes a participant of an LLL programme.



Art. 5

Course and Organization of Studies


(1) The LLL studies are based on the fact that the applicant attends classes within the scope of the specified LLL programme. To complete studies successfully the participant has to fulfil requirements and conditions specified by the LLL programme.


(2) The study schedule in the LLL programme is determined by the LLL provider not later than the deadline when application forms to the LLL programme are accepted.



Art. 6

Completion of Studies


(1) The procedure of completion of studies according to these rules is defined the LLL programme. If a final examination is a part of the LLL programme, an examination board of at least three members is appointed by a dean or a director. An examination paper can also be a part of the final examination.


(2) The provider issues a certificate of completed studies within the LLL scope. The certificate contains data on a qualification(s) that the graduate acquired, a record about exams passed including the number of credits and the marking of particular subjects of the final examination.



Art. 7

Registration Office of Participants


(1) UoD keeps the registry of participants that serves as a file of participants and statistical purposes. As for the content of the register, keeping records on participants and their updating, provisions of § 88 of the Act are adequately used.



Art. 8

Study Fees and Scholarships


(1) Study within the LLL scope is free of charge.


(2) No scholarships are awarded to participants.



Art. 9

Special provisions


(1) Provided the LLL graduate who completed a part of his lifelong learning activities within the scope of the accredited study programme becomes a student by course of law, credits obtained in this part of LLL can be, on the basis of his request, validated up to 60% of the total number of credits necessary for the ordinary completion of the study programme he/she studies.


(2) The Rector or the dean make a decision about the request in accordance with par. 1 after the pronouncement of the appropriate advisory body, which is the Study Programme Council as a rule. § 68 of the Act is relevant to the decision.



Art. 10

Collective and Concluding Provisions


(1) These rules and regulations were approved by the University Senate of the UoD on 22nd May 2006 in conformity with § 9, par. 1, letter b) of the Act.


(2) These rules and regulations enter into force in accordance with the provision of § 36, par. 4 of the Act on the day of the registration by the MoD in conformity with the provision of § 95, par. 8, letter a) of the Act.


(3) These rules and regulations enter into force on the date following the effective day.

The Ministry of Defence has registered the Lifelong Learning Rules and Regulations of the University of Defence in conformity with § 36, par. 2 and § 95, par. 8, letter a) of Act No 111/1998, Coll., on universities and on changes and amendments of other laws (University Act) under the ref. number 681-7/2006-7542 on 12th July 2006.
