Process

Set out the list of steps, or flow diagram of process

Contact Tracers/Case managers are asked to follow this SOP for cases who were a passenger on a flight (domestic or international) during the trace period (48 hours before symptom onset and 10 days after for symptomatic cases; 48 hours before test and 10 days after test for asymptomatic cases).

Note that all passengers returning to the UK on international flights from non-exempt countries are asked to quarantine for 10days:

1) Flight within trace period and under 10 days. Contact tracer to complete contact tracing for index case as normal, and gather as much information about the travel details and flight as possible.

2) Contact tracers require to capture the details of the flight(s) including airline(s), departure and arrival airports, flight number(s) and dates/times, seat number(s), whether they moved seats during the flight and fellow travellers. Record in Case log / Settings log in CMS and use this information to complete the HPS Air Travel form. See form below for full information specification. Please provide as detailed a travel history during the infectious window as possible, prior to arrival in Scotland.

Give as much information as you can, including but not limited to the fields in the form below, as soon as possible, and fill in more completely once further information received. If information is missing (such as seat numbers) it should still be completed as best as possible and sent to HPS.

3) Team Lead send completed form to the generic HPS coronavirus email address (HPSCORONAVIRUS (PUBLIC HEALTH SCOTLAND) <[email protected]>) and cc in the Christopher Redman <[email protected]>). Attach form below to CMS record.

On receipt of the air travel form follow-up (of passenger contacts 2 seats in all directions) may be through HPS or the UK public health agencies- including cabin crew.

4) Flight out with 10 days – Complete contact tracing and complete settings tab on CMS. Escalate for recording purposes. Team Lead to contact PHS for information purposes not further follow up action via [email protected]

Note: PHS should be notified of cases who are airline staff who have travelled from abroad in the last 10 days
