Introduction
In this unit the learners will develop skills to become active contributors when working with others and be able to review their own progress and skills development.
Through this unit the learners will be provided with opportunities to build up a range of skills and positive attitudes that have value in both education and employment; skills such as;
Taking turns in discussions;
Collaborating and co-operating;
Extending ideas by sharing with others; and
Supporting and building on the contributions of others.

Working
as Part of a Group
The
group will work together to organise and run an activity to raise
money for a charity of their choice.
To complete this
unit you will need to achieve the assessment criteria indicated in
the tasks below.
Learning Outcome 1
Demonstrate an awareness of how to work with others in appropriate ways.
Task
1.1: Participate in setting ground rules for working with others.
Take
part in a group discussion to:
Decide why it is important to set ground rules when working with others. What may happen if there are no ground rules set for a group activity?
Decide on and produce a set of ground rules to work successfully as a group.
Produce a poster to show ground rules for working in a group.
File a copy in your portfolio.
Task 1.2: Relate basic information about the work to be carried out
Decide
on the activity and
make
a list of the tasks that need to be done.
Task 1.3: Identify your role in the group.
Identify the skills that you have.
Hold a group discussion and decide who will do each task/s.
Produce a word processed document showing the above information and file a copy in your portfolio.
Be able to demonstrate working as part of a group.
Task 2.1: Carry out tasks when working with others.
Task 2.2: Ask for or offer help when required.
Use the attached pro forma to include a photograph of you taking part in the activity.
Ask your tutor to complete a Witness Statement to confirm what you did and any help that you offered or required.
File these in your portfolio.
