Focus Pupil Consent Discussion
I’m here to tell you about creating a ‘Circle’ for you.
A ‘circle’ is 6-8 of your class members who would meet once a week for half an hour with………... and yourself.
In this ‘circle’ time, you and your class mates would think about what’s gone really well for you in the week and what could have gone better. The ‘circle’ comes up with targets and ideas of how to help you with things that you might find difficult.
To find volunteers for the ‘circle’ a whole class meeting takes place. But you’re not there for this – you’ll be able to go out with ……..and……. Your class talk about the kinds of things they think have not gone so well for you and difficult times for them. They also talk about all the positive things about you and what they like about you.
After this they will be told about the ‘circle’ and asked if they want to volunteer. From those that have volunteered to be part of your ‘circle’. ………. will choose 4-6 and you can choose 2 of your classmates.
Straight after this whole-class meeting we’ll have our 1st circle meeting and I’ll tell you what was discussed. Some things might be difficult to hear, but they’ll be plenty of positives things as well. Within this meeting we’ll come up with targets about your behaviour and have a think about what you and the circle can do together to help you achieve these targets. The ‘circle’ will then meet every week for about 40 minutes.
The whole-class discussion and 1st meeting has been arranged for tomorrow morning. The whole class discussion will take place before break, we’ll choose the circle members over break time and then do the 1st meeting after break.
Remember, setting up a ‘circle’ is about your classmates helping you and making friends.
Does this sound ok to you? Any questions?
