These have been around a long time but they still hold appeal. They are for strong readers mainly because of length and the descriptions.
These books are short chapter mysteries with the solutions at the end of the book. They range in difficulty from 3rd to 5th grade.
Mouse and the Motorcycle series by Beverly Cleary
These books appeal to 4th graders but their reading level is 5th or 6th grade. I think they are readable by strong 4th grade readers.

Phyllis Naylor writes a series about a family with 4 boys and a family with 3 girls who are constantly playing tricks and pranks on each other. The titles sound violent, but are actually a lot of fun AND funny!

Edward Eager has written some books about kids and magic. They are “oldies but goodies.” Half Magic, Seven Day Magic, Time Garden, Magic by the Lake, Magic or Not?
