Board Member
GENERAL INFORMATION
Type: Elected
Term: 1 Year
Reports to: Board President
Description: The District Board is responsible for governing the organization. Setting the policy and the direction of the organization are the primary functions of the board of directors.
Comments: Board Members are crucial to the success of the organization. Board members are asked to get involved with committees and ensure that the work of the organization is carried out.
PREFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
Training: Main Street Board Training (available at several locations & times and as a webinar)
Attendance: Attendance at board meetings is critical. In addition to needing a quorum, you were recruited to give your opinion and we want to make sure your voice is heard during our meetings and deliberations.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES
Attend monthly board meetings and actively participate.
Provide insight and guidance to District Board & Staff
Supporting The District through membership and encouraging others to support the district financially.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BOARD AS A WHOLE
Exercising all the powers of The District in the intervals between annual meetings.
Selecting and employing an Executive Director
Coordinating the work of the committees and various phases of The District operations.
Approving & Raising the annual operating budget and revising as necessary.
TIME COMMITMENT
District Board Meetings: District Board meetings are held monthly. Meeting should last approximately 60 minutes.
Additional Time Commitments: The additional time commitments for this position are spent in serving on the committee(s) of the organization.

Promotion Committee Chair

Reports to: Board President
Description: The Promotion committee sells both the image and the promise of The District to shoppers, investors, new businesses and visitors.
Comments: With an effective promotion strategy, the Main Street district’s positive image is promoted through retail promotions, special events and marketing campaigns implemented by the district.

Attendance: Attendance at Promotion Committee Meetings is expected.

Recruit new committee members to assist in carrying out the work of the committee.

Continue Image Campaign from 2018
Expand on the arts to be a more outwardly arts community.

Comments: Other design-related activities such as merchandising, wayfinding, sidewalks and landscaping help convey a visual message about The District has to offer.

By helping existing businesses expand and recruiting new businesses that respond to today’s market, The District helps convert unused space into productive properties and cultivate local and regional entrepreneurship.
Comments: The Economic Development Committee is critical for the downtown’s long-term success. Ensuring that District is competitive when entrepreneurs are looking to locate their business is key.
