James Buchanan Henry
James Buchanan Henry served as private secretary to President James Buchanan. Born March 1, 1833 in Greensbury, Pennsylvania, the nephew of 15th president James Buchanan, Henry graduated with an A. B. from Princeton University (1853) and was later granted an honorary M. A. from Princeton (1856). Admitted to the Pennsylvania and New York bars (1856), Henry practiced private law until his uncle James Buchanan was appointed American minister to Great Britain and Henry agreed to serve as legation secretary in London. He was admitted as attorney and counselor of the United States Supreme Court (1859), served as assistant United States attorney for the district of New York (1859-1861), and United States commissioner for the eastern district of New York (1859-1871). Henry died on February 17, 1915 in Cocoanut, Florida.
His dates of service in the administration remain uncertain from what I have found.
