Suggested Classroom Activity for MN RTI Center Progress Monitoring Using the Data Slides 24-32.
Print out cards (in different colors preferably) that state either:
EXIT to LESS INTENSE SERVICE,
KEEP GOING & COLLECT MORE DATA, or
PROBLEM SOLVE and CHANGE.
Masters of these cards are provided on the next three pages.
Have the students sit in small groups (groups of 2 to 4 people work well, no bigger) and as you go through the graphs, have the group raise up the card that corresponds to what they would be likely to do based on the data available. Call on groups to provide their rationale, and also to reflect on
Is there go upness?
Is there enough go upness?
What else would you like to know?
If there are differences between groups, discuss why different groups made different decisions, and what process or data would be helpful in coming to a decision if this were a team that had to decide what to do….
