TITLE: Health and Well Being Officer
SALARY: £24,000 per annum
CONTRACT PERIOD: 31ST August 2022
HOURS: 37 hours per week
REPORTS TO: Ashfield Voluntary Action Manager
ROLE SUMMARY:
To lead on the delivery of a range of activities covering the ‘Step by Step’ and ‘Inspiring Ashfield’ Programmes. Combining the final year of a Lottery funded programme together with a social prescribing programme of activities. The programme provides a series of engagement activities, based on 10 steps to well-being, for people whose health has been impacted by the Covid 19 pandemic.
By developing a range of sustainable activities specifically aimed at improving both mental and physical health through social prescribing, enabling people to help regain their confidence and self-esteem.
To engage, train and support volunteers providing buddying services enabling people to access volunteering/community activities, within the Pathways training programme.
To work within a collaborative partnership of agencies to promote the Health and Well Being agenda in Ashfield and to reduce health inequalities.
key duties and responsibilities include:
To work with the Manager and the Business Development Officer to ensure the sustainability of the programme by the end of the financial year.
To work in partnership with Ashfield Health and Well-being partnership, ‘North Notts Mental Wellness Review’ and the ‘Notts Co-Production’ Team. Supporting local community and voluntary sector organisations to develop sustainable activities, through a hub and spoke delivery model, and establish new groups where none exist.
To lead the recruitment and training of volunteers to support the programme delivery and to promote the potential of wellbeing activities in health and social care though the Pathways programme.
To lead volunteers to organise and run practical activities and workshops across the Ashfield district as part of the social inclusion activity sessions.
To work with volunteers and beneficiaries to ensure that buddying and signposting is maximised
To develop referral channels through GP's, Social Prescribing link workers, health professionals, Job Centre, Community Mental Health Team etc. to obtain referrals
To network with other agencies to embed the project into the community and future mental health strategies and develop appropriate volunteer placements and activities
To manage publicity - liaising with AVA staff and volunteers to maximise promotional opportunities.
To monitor and evaluate the Programme in partnership with Nottingham Trent University to ensure participation by stakeholders, develop monitoring and evaluation tools provide evidence of the value of the programme and to assist the future funding of the programme.
To be responsible for producing written reports, statistical data etc which are completed accurately, appropriately, and timely for the Ashfield Voluntary Action Manager, the Board of Trustees, funders and as part of any other monitoring as and when requested
To liaise with the Finance Officer and the Manager to ensure budgets are adhered to
General Tasks
To
undertake training and development as agreed with line manager.
Health & Safety
To take reasonable care for the health and safety of him/herself and other persons who may be affected by his/her activities, and where appropriate safeguarding the health and safety of all persons under his/her control and guidance, in accordance with the provisions of Health and Safety legislation.
To exercise proper care in handling, operating, and safeguarding of any equipment or appliances provided and issued by the AVA, for the post holder’s individual or collective use, in the performance of his/her duties.
