The Board of Education of the Poteet Independent School District met in a Regular Board Meeting,

July 26, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. in the Poteet Intermediate Library.


Members Present: Yvette Navarro, President

Ronnie Ambriz, Vice President

Margie Martinez, Secretary

Albert Garza

Diego Puente – arrived at 7:04 p.m.


Members Absent: Jo Marie Cervantez

Others Present: Charles Camarillo, Superintendent

The meeting was called to order by Yvette Navarro, President @ 7:00 p.m.


The pledge of allegiance and moment of silence were lead by Yvette Navarro, President.

Motion 8004-21 Motion was made by Margie Martinez, seconded by Albert Garza, that the board approve the minutes for June 21 and July 20, 2021..

Motion 8005-21 Motion was made by Margie Martinez, seconded by Albert Garza, that the board approve the monthly financial information as presented.

Motion 8006-21 Motion was made by Albert Garza, seconded by Margie Martinez, that the board approve the budget amendment #5 for the 2020-2021 budget.

Motion 8007-21 Motion was made by Margie Martinez, seconded by Albert Garza, that the board approve the appraisal district budget for 2022.

Motion 8008-21 Motion was made by Albert Garza, seconded by Margie Martinez, that the board approve to accept the certified appraisal roll for tax year 2021 for the Poteet Independent School District as presented.

Budget Workshop k#1 was presented by Amanda Gonzales, Executive Director of B & O.


Motion 8009-21 Motion was made by Albert Garza, seconded by Margie Martinez, that the board approve the proposed maintenance and operations tax rate of $1.031000 per $100 valuation for 2021 and the proposed interest and sinking tax rate of $0.229921 per $100 valuation to be published in the newspaper notice for the public meeting.

Motion 8010-21 Motion was made by Albert Garza, seconded by Margie Martinez, that the board approve the Region 20 commitments for the 2021-2022 school year as presented.

Motion 8011-21 Motion was made by Diego Puente, seconded by Albert Garza, that the board approve the 2021-2022 school meal prices for the district.

Motion 8012-21 Motion was made by Diego Puente, seconded by Margie Martinez, that the board adopt the resolution presented by the Superintendent authorizing the purchase of an approximate 68 acre tract of land located in the Joaquin DeLaGarza survey, abstract no. A 00003, Atascosa County, Texas from Patricia West.

Motion 8013-21 Motion was made by Albert Garza, seconded by Margie Martinez, that the board add, revise, or delete policies as recommended by TASB Policy Service and according to the Instruction Sheet for TASB Localized Policy Manual Update 117.

Information regarding the Texas Covid Learning Acceleration Supports (TCLAS) grant application was given by Mrs Mills.

Yvette Navarro, President stated the board will convene into closed session under Texas Government Code 551.074 to consider the following:

Personnel: appointment, employment, employment staffing, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, dismissal of employees

Motion 8014-21 Yvette Navarro stated that no action would be taken on #19.
