Purpose |
This unit standard is intended for people who are members of the New Zealand Cadet Forces or those who are interested in the New Zealand Defence Force.
People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate advanced rifle drill movements, and ceremonial foot drills. |

Guidance Information
All knowledge and practice requirements must align with the policy and training manuals of RNZN, NZA, RNZAF and/or NZCF.
Training manuals relevant to this unit standard include RNZN drill manual BR1834/NZ Supplementary, NZA drill manual NZP6, and RNZAF drill manual NZAP818 and available upon request from New Zealand Cadet Forces.
Drill terminology is defined in the NZCF service specific drill manuals.

Unit 24098, Demonstrate basic foot drill at the halt and on the march.
5 Definitions
NZA is the New Zealand Army;
NZCF is the New Zealand Cadet Forces;
RNZN is the Royal New Zealand Navy;
RNZAF is the Royal New Zealand Air Force.
Outcomes and performance criteria
Outcome 1
Demonstrate advanced rifle drill movements.
Range drill movements must be demonstrated on at least three occasions, minimum of at least one formal parade.
drill movements must comply with the service drill manual for drill movements from NZAP818, NZP6 or BR1834/NZ Supplementary.
Performance criteria
1.1 Demonstrate rifle drill at the halt.
Range ease, easy, attention, shoulder and order arms, present and shoulder arms, ground and retrieve arms, paying compliments.
1.2 Demonstrate marching with weapons.
Outcome 2
Demonstrate ceremonial foot drills.
Range drill movements must comply with the service drill manual for drill movements from NZAP818, NZP6 or BR1834/NZ Supplementary.
Performance criteria
2.1 Demonstrate drill movements for a ceremonial drill.
Range includes but is not limited to – catafalque and/or cenotaph drill, marching in slow time.
2.2 Demonstrate drill movements for a supernumerary drill.
2.3 Demonstrate drill movements for a colour party.
Range includes but is not limited to – standard bearer, guard.
2.4 Demonstrate ceremonial drill with weapons.
Range rest on arms reversed from the present, present arms from rest on arms reversed.
