QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND SUPERVISION ARRANGEMENTS

All VE Teachers must have current skills and knowledge in their industry area and in vocational education and training (requirement of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015). VE Teachers must have:

  • vocational competencies at least to the level of the Unit (course) being delivered and assessed;

  • current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided;

  • current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs their training and assessment.

A. Training and assessment qualification or skillset

Minimum requirement is the Cert IV in TAE (TAE40110). VE teachers without this qualification can only deliver training under supervision and must have the Presentinf Skill Set before commencing teaching.

B. Supervision arrangement

An individual who does not yet hold the minimum required training and assessment qualification (Cert IV in TAE) may only deliver training under supervision. Any individual delivering training under supervision must have the Presenting Skill Set before commencing teaching and is expected to attain their Cert IV in TAE qualification within 12 months. If the individual is teaching in more than one Program, a separate supervision arrangement is required for each Program.

C. Vocational Competency

Provide evidence of vocational competency. List all qualifications relevant to the VE Teacher’s vocational competency. The hiring manager is responsible for ensuring that the competencies listed meet current Training Package requirements and are recognised by the relevant industry.
