Ecosystems with a variety of important and endemic species are protected by the recently established Mtirala National Park. For the Park to be a benefit for nature conservation as well as for the local economy, conservation measures have to be combined with integrating the population around the park. If done in a proper way, the local economy can strongly benefit from the tourists and visitors.
The “International Business Development and Investment Promotion Centre” (IBDIPC) offers consultation on marketing and educational matters to the Mtirala National Park. Furthermore the organisation is active in promoting the regions’ business potential through investment, international business relationships and business-matchmaking. With its workshops, seminars and conferences in modern management and economy it builds capacities for a development of the region.

The GLEN participants design edutainment activities for kids. Edutainment is a concept that combines education and entertainment in order to raise motivation for learning. Materials designed can be used for establishing an exhibition.

GLEN participants work together with Mr. Reitz, a consultant who provides them also with tasks and guidelines. Theoretical knowledge can thereby be applied to the realities of a new National Park. GLEN participants get a practical insight into an eco-tourism project. They will be involved in preparing and implementing pilot projects to improve their analytical and managerial skills in an international team.

The scheduled project time is between July and September.

The preparatory phase of the project will take place in English. The GLEN project team will be composed of one German/Swiss and one Lithuanian participant. In order to strengthen the baltic sea cooperation, German applications from Hamburg are particularly welcome.
