CONTEXT AND RATIONALE |
Description of current situation and identification of development problems: Public Institution Primary school “SLAVINOVIĆI” in TUZLA was founded in 1956. After foundation of this school, a need of having a school library emerged. The library was supposed to have at least half of the book titles required by curriculum. Before the war broke out, the library was supplied with 4 000 book titles, which was not satisfactory because of the fact that this school never had more than 1200 students. According to the newest school data, there are currently 425 students in our school. However, our school was partly devastated during the war. A great number of books were lost for good, as well as library archive and recordings on the number of the books. Today, we have the library which is not completely reconstructed along with other some school facilities, but it still does not meet students and teachers’ needs. Library is the most important part of every school. This is where we gain knowledge. Its ultimate mission is to provide book titles for students and teachers in accordance with students’ needs. The library is supposed to improve and facilitate teachers’ teaching job. In order for the library to fulfill its role in the process of education and upbringing, it needs to meet curriculum requirements, individual needs of students, teachers, co-operators and other beneficiaries by its variety of books and functions. Aim of the project is to find solutions that will make our library functional by fulfilling our requirements. |
Objectives of the development intervention, proposed strategy and its relevance: objective analysis defining the vision of the improved situation, including key mesurable indicators to be improved, and their current value, justification of the proposed strategy and its compliance with the national strategy for poverty reduction (PRSP) and the MDGs |
PROJECT SPECIFICS |
Results (Project Outputs): Its ultimate mission is to provide book titles for students and teachers in accordance with students and teachers’ needs. The library is supposed to improve education at our school, as well as motivating students to search for the knowledge. Purchasing these book titles our students to be able to completely monitor the teaching material. In addition to our students and teachers access to get and exchange information with the local population. We live in a suburban part of the town where the school and the school library each building in which it takes the cultural life of the population
Activities: We don’t have a deadline until which we have to complete the project. It would be better if we could get the feedback as soon as possible. Students and teachers need library and books as soon as possible.
Risks and assumptions: risk - NONE When writing a list of the book titles needed, we engaged all the teachers to supply their titles. We suppose that the project will be satisfactory provided we get the postitive feedback and buy all the books as listed below. An efficient result is inevitable. |
