group benefit plan goes paperless for e-payment!
From
extended health care to dental expenses — including
Coordination of Benefits and claims submitted through your Health
Care Spending Account (HSA) — all claim payments will be
deposited directly into your bank account effective [Sponsor
enters effective date].
What does e-Payment mean?
T
he
banking information now being used for payroll, will be given to Sun
Life to pay any claims under your benefit plan. Sun Life will deposit
your claims payment electronically (electronic funds transfer or EFT)
directly into your bank account. You will be sent an email notice
once your claim is processed, and you can also sign in to
mysunlife.ca to access your online claims statements. So fast and
easy for you!
Handling claims payment in this way reflects the growing trend among Canadians towards the ease and convenience of online banking and paperless statements.
e-Payment is better than payment by cheque:
Faster for you – your payment is usually deposited into your bank account in 24 – 48 hours.
So easy – no more lining up at banks or automated banking machines.
Safer option – direct deposit into your bank account means a lower risk of theft or loss than payment by cheque.
A green choice – No paper forms to fill out or paper cheques to be issued.
What this means for you
Your employer will be sending your banking and email information to Sun Life to begin the e-payment process. All you need to do is make sure you are registered for mysunlife.ca and verify that your email address is correct. Then we can notify you by email on the status of your claim, including when it’s been processed and deposited into your bank account.
Not registered online yet?
No problem! Select the ‘Register now’ link under the mysunlife.ca sign in section and follow the instructions. You can use this guide to help you register and you will need your contract number and member ID handy. Once you’ve registered we will send you an email where you will need to click the link provided to verify that your email address is correct!
Please note: for security purposes, once you register online at mysunlife.ca, Sun Life Financial may have to send you a temporary password by mail, which typically takes 3 to 5 business days for delivery.
Already registered?
If you’ve already registered for mysunlife.ca and are using the site – that’s great! You don’t have to do a thing. The e-Payment process will automatically be applied to you if you haven’t already signed up for direct deposit and paperless statements. Please check to ensure that your current email address is on file so your claims payment notifications get to you.
Go mobile!
Not only can you submit your claims online at mysunlife.ca, but for even greater convenience, depending on your plan, you can also submit them using the my Sun Life Mobile app on your smartphone or mobile device. Visit www.mysunlife.ca/mobile to learn more.
