Supplement to the Organizational Review

2004-2005 187 members have committee appointments. This does not include the 10 Executive Board members. Since several people are appointed to more than one committee NMRT currently has 262 committee appointments.

The ad hoc committees were not included in the Organizational review. In order to develop a complete picture of the NMRT committees I have provided some information on the ad hoc committees for 2004-2005.

State Chapter Coordination and Support ad hoc.

This is the first year for this ad hoc committee. It came from the recommendation of the Affiliates ad hoc committee. The purpose is to provide support for the state NMRTs. The structure is similar to the Liaison Coordination & Support committee.

Footnotes Content Ad Hoc

This committee started in December 2004. It has been determined that loading the Footnotes issues into the ALA CMS is too much for the Footnotes committee. This committee will be loading the previous issues of Footnotes into the CMS system and making a recommendation for future issues.

Scholarship and Research Ad Hoc

Each year several people volunteer for the Footnotes committee but that committee needs to stay at a manageable size. Yet Footnotes does not receive feature articles from people who are committee members. This committee is creating a supplemental issue to Footnotes which will appear in the May issue.

New Writer’s Support Ad Hoc

The committee was created in 2002-2003. It is the owner of NMRTWriter and is creating a webpage of resources. NMRTWriter has seen an increase in usage but the committee continues to struggle. People want opportunities to get published.

I would recommend combining the ideas of the Scholarship & Research committee with the New Writer’s Support.
