Paid Crisis at Christmas Outreach Workers needed
For Crisis at Christmas 2015
23rd to 30th December 2015
We are looking to recruit a number of skilled workers who have front line experience of helping rough sleepers for our Crisis at Christmas centres this year.
You will be building on the successful approach of engaging with individuals who come to our various centres across London looking for help, guidance and support. We need experienced workers who are committed and confident to provide guidance and help for clients who are believed to currently be rough sleeping or homeless and you will be involved in giving advice, linking & referring to appropriate services, reconnecting and advocating on their behalf.
This is a challenging, busy and rewarding position that includes managing the expectations of the guests at Crisis at Christmas. You will need to be familiar with the CHAIN database and understand the overall network of services offered by different outreach and housing needs agencies in London. We hope to put together a mixed team of expertise and experience from the different agencies involved, working closely with a dedicated outreach co-ordinator. The outreach link team will be supervised by a senior manager from one of the outreach agencies.
You
will target individuals who may not yet be linked to any agency. You
will be working directly for Crisis during this period, for this
reason any applications must be with permission from your own line
management which must
be sought and cannot be assumed.
The pay will be £120 per day, £170 on public holidays. Payment will be via Crisis who will be your employer and the post will be offered on a short-term contract.
Applicants
must be able to demonstrate
experience and positive achievement in the following areas:
Demonstrable experience of working directly with rough sleepers (e.g. in outreach, daycentres or similar services)
Good
knowledge of voluntary sector services and statutory rights of
homeless people
Ability to deal flexibly with a broad range of clients, and with challenging behaviour
Striving for equality of opportunity in the context of rough-sleeping and homelessness
Current
(or previous) registered CHAIN user (Highly Desirable)
