Guest: Joe Carlson
Old Business: The minutes from the January 2017 business meeting were reviewed. Minutes were approved as written.
New Business:
New Applicant-Joe Carlson attended the meeting and has already submitted an application to join the department. Joe is a nurse anesthetist at Mayo Clinic and lives on the West side of the highway. A motion to accept Joe’s application was proposed and a unanimous vote was received to accept the application.
City council will need to also approved Joe’s application, which will take place at the upcoming February City Council meeting.
Toni will inquire about upcoming initial training courses for availability for Joe to attend.
New Assistant Director-Jeff Allhiser made a nomination of Chris Inman for the vacant assistant director position. Chris accepted the nomination. A unanimous vote to approve Chris as assistant was then received.
The functionality of the new blood pressure/defib machines was once again reviewed. They are automatic blood pressure readers with pulse oximeters attached. Depending on which cuff is attached, the device will recognize if it is a pediatric or adult patient.
Until members have been trained on the defib functionality, continue to use the Zoll defibs.
Please keep the devices plugged in.
They are in both Rescue 1 and Rescue 2.
The combination department of both fire and first responders will be sending flowers and a card to Jerry Lubahn, as he had heart surgery today.
The SE EMS conference is coming up in March. Flyers have been sent out and information is also available on the SEEMS website. The conference is March 17-18. Please submit application request as soon as possible if you plan on attending.
Christina Inman also informed the group about an upcoming Long Hot Summer Conference coming up in Brooklyn Park, March 3-4. This conference also includes ‘hands-on’ training.
Dan Sundt is looking into getting a CEVO course here in Oronoco for both the Fire and EMR departments. He will also investigate getting another training session at the Milestone Quarry if possible.
Medical Call review: Discussion took place on a number of recent medical calls.
Business meeting adjourned at 7:21pm
Respectfully submitted,
Toni Allhiser
