Robert J. Twigg, Sr.

February 2, 1946 – March 2, 2015


Robert J. Twigg, Sr., 69, of Bettsville, OH passed away on Monday, March 02, 2015 at Promedica Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 2, 1946 in Green Springs, WV, the son of Ray E. and Winifred (Mullen) Twigg. He was a 1964 graduate of Romney High School in Romney, WV.


Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and Sharpshooter Badge. He also served in the National Guard. He married Janet Martin on June 2, 1965 in Ithaca, MI and she survives.


Robert worked as a Pressman for the Tiffin Advertiser Tribune for thirty-two years and retired in 2005. He was a Life member of the Fremont VFW and a member of the American Legion in Bettsville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing poker and telling stories. He was involved with Boy Scouts for fifteen years and was a Little League coach for all of his children.


Robert is survived by his wife of fifty years, Janet Twigg, Bettsville, OH; children, Robert J. Twigg, Jr., Tiffin, OH, Brian (Dana) Twigg, Fremont, OH, Michael T. (Sheri) Twigg, Bettsville, OH, Jeremy W. (Kelly) Twigg, Bloomville, OH; siblings, Ray (Betty) Twigg of Virginia, Faye (Tom) Davison amd Roy E. (Roxanne) Twigg both of Fremont, OH, Joseph (Shirley) Twigg and Dailey (Susie) Twigg both of Springfield, WV; grandchildren, Zachery (Kylee), Andrew, Brittany, Brianna, Robert III, Brayden, Marisa, McKenna, Carter and Cooper Twigg; two great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Alfred “Buck”, Franklin and Richard Twigg, Betty Jane Ficik, Norma Jean Federico and Victoria Richie.


Visitation: Thursday from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.


Service: Friday, March 6, 2015, 10:30 am at the funeral home.


Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont.
