Disaster Recovery Simulation Drill - Unavailability of ACES for dept. officers from 11/1/2013 (2200 Hrs) to 13/1/2013 (0900 Hrs)

Dear all Comm. Admins,

Advisory regarding Disaster Recovery Simulation Drill:

The IT infrastructure on which CBEC’s business applications run is provisioned from Primary Data Centre (DC) at New Delhi. An alternate data centre (Disaster Recovery Site or DR site) has also been set up at Chennai to keep the business applications running even if the DC is not available because of any reason.

The Recovery Simulation drill is planned to test the scenario when our DC is unavailable and we may need to actually run the CBEC’s business applications from DR site so that the business can continue even during such an event. Your active cooperation is solicited to make this exercise successful.

Objectives of Recovery Simulation Drill

1. To test whether operations can be resumed from DR site, in case any disaster occurs at DC.

2. To test whether application data made available at the DR site is in the same state as it was available in the DC at the time of disaster

3. To test whether transactions can be recovered at the DR site

4. To test whether all functionality of ACES application is available from DR site

5. To test if the transactions carried out at DR site can be replicated back to DC

CBEC’s Recovery Simulation Drill is planned from 11.01.2013 2200 Hrs to 13.01.2013 0900 Hrs. Due to this ACES application for CBEC departmental officers will not be available from 2200 Hrs onwards on 11.01.2013 (Friday) till 0900 Hrs on 13.01.2013(Sunday). In view of this, the following advisory is issued to all ACES (CE & ST) locations:

1. In view of the non-availability of ACES application from 2200 Hrs on 11.01.2013 (Friday) all locations are advised to ensure completion of issuance of Registration Certificates, Procurement Certificates and such other time-bound matters by 2000 Hrs on 11.01.2013 (Friday). Com Admins may also consider deploying additional shifts and /or additional staff to ensure completion of such activities.

2. Functionalities available on ACES website such as self registration, filing of CE and ST returns will not be available to external users (Assessees) during this period except for the period between 0900 Hrs to 1800 Hrs on 12.01.2013(Saturday)

3. ACES application is expected to be fully operational by 0900 Hrs on 13.01.2013 (Sunday).

4. The SI Helpdesk may be contacted for any further clarifications in this regard. SI Helpdesk’s contact details: E-mail ID: [email protected] ; Toll-Free No.: 1800 266 2232
