Setting
The setting of a story is the time and place the story takes place. Settings change throughout stories.
Conflict
The conflict of a story is the problem the main character is facing. The conflict can be Person vs. Person. It can be Person vs. Society. It can be Person vs. Self or Person vs. Nature.
Climax
The climax of a story is the high point of the story. It is the point in the story where the most action takes place. The climax is usually the most exciting part of the story.
Resolution
The resolution of a story is how the conflict was resolved. It is also what is happening to the characters at the end of the story.
Plot summary
The plot is all of the important events of a story put together to help the reader understand the story without reading it. A good plot summary includes specific characters and events without giving away the entire plot.
Theme
The theme of a story is what the author is trying to convey or tell you without telling you. It is often the reason why he wrote the story. What was the author’s message to the reader?
