Detection of the end-point in oxidation-Reduction Titration:
An internal oxidation-reduction indicators ,that employed to mark the sudden change in PH during acid-base titrations .Similarly an oxidation-reduction .Indicator should mark the sudden change in the oxidation potential in the neighbourhood of the equivalence point in an oxidation-reduction titration ,The ideal oxidation-reduction indicator will be one with an oxidation potential intermediate between that of the solution titrated and that of the titrant ,and which exhibits a sharp, readily detectable colour change.
An oxidation-reduction indicator is compound which exhibits different colours is oxidized and reduced forms(oxidation-reduction) should be reversible .strong acid with strong base: the conductance first falls ,due to the replacement of hydrogen ion by added cation after equivalence point has been reached ,rapidly rises with further additions of strong alkali due to the large conductivity of OH-.The two branches of the curve are straight lines provided the volume of the reagent added is negligible and their intersection gives end-point .This titration is practical interest when the solutions are dark or deeply colored.
