Summer Junior Rifle Camp Counselor Jobs Available: The Civilian Marksmanship Program will hire 9 qualified college rifle team members to work as junior rifle camp counselors during the summer of 2006. Counselors will check in at Camp Perry, Ohio, on May 30th and receive three days of training on June 1-3. Camps are tentatively planned in Texas, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Fort Benning. If counselors wish, they may compete in the USA Shooting Championships during the middle of June. Counselors will be finished with their duties and released on August 5^th. The last week of work will include duties at Camp Perry, assisting with the National Matches.

While the CMP would prefer that a counselor signs on for the entire summer season, we might be willing to make exceptions for those involved in competition.

All counselors will be required to attend the training at Camp Perry.

The CMP prefers applicants to be current members of collegiate rifle teams or clubs with an advanced knowledge of competitive rifle shooting and a desire to work with high school age youth in a summer sports camp environment.

We are looking forward to an organized, energized summer of excellent camps under the active direction of Dr. Dan Durben, Olympic and Paralympic Rifle Coach, possibly Paralympic Silver Medal winner Dan Jordan, and CMP staff member Sommer Wood. This will be the best summer ever for junior shooters.

Counselors will work with 4-6-person teams of youth and their adult coaches. The salary will be $400 per week for new counselors and $450 for those who have previously worked at the CMP summer camps. Salary and a $30/day per diem will be paid on a bi-weekly basis; housing will be provided. No salary will paid when counselors are participating in the USA Shooting Nationals. Counselors will be flown between camp sites.

A background check is required.
