Monogram Development Officer

Monogram brings together work on cereal/grass genetics and genomics within the UK, covering BBSRC Institutes, Universities and other academic research organisations. A development officer is required to support and expedite the work of the Monogram community. This will include activities such as Monogram Network meetings and the Monogram website (www.monogram.ac.uk) in order to encourage collaborative research. The postholder will report to Tina Barsby, Director of NIAB, representing the Directors of the participating institutes (JIC, IBERS, SCRI, RRes and NIAB) which will jointly fund the position. The location may be flexible, but will involve travel within the UK and overseas.

The successful candidate will have a PhD and postdoctoral experience in plant biology and experience of grass or cereals biology would be an advantage. Some knowledge of the UK crop research and breeding communities is essential. Applicants should possess an outgoing personality and be confident speakers with an excellent command of written English. They should be self-motivated and capable of working independently.

The appointment is likely to be at the Band D-PD or Band E-SPD levels on the BBSRC scale, or equivalent, depending on experience. The post is full time but a part-time appointment may be considered.

Informal enquiries about the position to Dr. Barsby ([email protected]) are encouraged.

Apply on application form only, available with further particulars from http://www.niab.com/careers.html. Applications should be sent to Kate Harrison at NIAB, Huntingdon Road, Cambridge, CB3 0LE, UK, email: [email protected].
