Regenerative medicine – cooperation with Advanced Therapies Partners

On the way from idea to product there is no well-trodden path in the field of regenerative medicine, this area is too new for all concerned persons: researchers, clinicians, government and insurers. A standardized translational process, as known in the traditional drug development process, does not yet exist for Advanced Therapies. ASPIRAS is therefore working together with Advanced Therapies Partners (http://www.at-partners.eu) and their Managing Director Dr. Gudrun Tiedemann to ensure that effective regenerative therapies arrive quickly and effectively where they are belong, i. e. in the patient.

‘FORUM Kultur’ at Business Angels Frankfurt Rhein-Main

As mentioned in the last newsletter Cathrin Pauly contributes to the ‘Forum Kultur’ of the Business Angels Frankfurt Rhein-Main (http://www.ba-frm.de/). Everyone can apply who has a promising project from the cultural sector. It is not relevant if the project comes from the field of literature, music, paintings, sculpture, stage or film. The financial assistance of the angels is project-bound and must not exceed the pre-financing requirement of 500.000 €. The initiators of the project should be located in the Rhein-Main area.

Health claims für food supplements – cooperation with daacro, trier

Since 2007 the following applies to all countries of the European Union: health claims of food products are subject to requirements of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). For several years now DAaCRO (www.daacro.de) has conducted clinical studies for manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, functional foods, dietary supplements and healthcare products with a particular focus on stress. The study protocols usually integrate the Trier Social Stress Test (TSST), which is considered the gold standard of the laboratory stress tests in humans worldwide. With different biomarkers and accredited psychometric procedures it is tested whether a substance can reduce the stress response. The DAaCRO-team consists of biologists, medical doctors, psychologists and a continuously trained study team.

running for a good cause - Run for children 2010

ASPIRAS will sponsor the team ‚ASPIRAnten’ at the competition ‚Run for Children’ on June 19th in Mainz (http://www.runforchildren-mainz.de/german/). The entire run will last 10 hours which the runners split between each other. Each runner can choose a time window in which he will run his rounds. The more rounds the team runs altogether the higher the amount of money donated by the sponsor for the benefit of children.

Samuel Langhorne Clemens died 100 years ago. He was a representative of American realism and is particularly known for his humorous locally colored stories and observations of social behavior which were a sharp-tongued criticism of American society. On February 3rd 1863, he used the pseudonym ‘Mark Twain’ under which he began his literary career in earnest for the first time, Mark Twain is a term used by sailors which means about 3 ⅔ m water depth and comes from his work as a helmsman on the Mississippi. In ‘A Tramp Abroad’ Twain describes his impressions of his second European tour in 1878 which took him through Germany, Switzerland and Italy. In this book he published the famous essay THE AWFUL GERMAN LANGUAGE in the annex in which he humorously describes the characteristics and difficulties of the German language. He was especially influenced by his three-months stay in Heidelberg and its surroundings of which he wrote enthusiastically.
