Biography

Mark Anderson has been a Rotarian for over 15 years and is a second generation Rotarian, a double Paul Harris Fellow and has been President of 2 different Rotary Clubs. He was raised in Ponchatoula, Louisiana and graduated from the Tulane University School of Engineering in 1983 with majors in Computer Science and Mathematics and later furthered his education at the University of Oxford, England.


Mark lived and worked in several parts of the world including Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Former Soviet for over a decade while employed in the corporate Telecommunications sector. During that time he had the fortunate opportunity to work directly with a number of Ambassadors and heads of state in the course of securing major telephone network infrastructure projects. After rising through the management chain in the Fortune 500 corporate world, he finally gave into his own entrepreneurial instincts and left at age 35 and established his own successful telecommunication companies with office headquarters in Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan that provided international satellite communication services to major U.S. and foreign oil and gas companies operating in the Caspian Sea region.


Mark retired at age 50 and currently resides in Brookhaven, MS with his wife Dr. Shahla Anderson. Over the last decade, he has served in leadership positions on a number of Boards. In additional to Rotary activities, Mark has a passion for European cars, enjoys investing in income producing real estate and creating new products for the Telecommunications Industry.

1993 – Secured 1st nationally guaranteed loan in the history of Uzbekistan after its independence from the USSR

1997 – Secured 1st private telecom licenses in Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan after their independence from the USSR

2002 – Invented 1st USB based VoIP phone adapter for dial up Internet. Product shipped worldwide including remote UN offices.

2004 – Invented 1st VoIP phone adapter with Skype support. Product sold in mass worldwide.

2009 – Invented 1st mass market advanced phone features software upgrade for magicJack users popularly known as Magicfeatures.
2014 – Invented 1st VoIP phone adapter for use with Google Hangouts the new $0/year subscription free phone service.
