A 10 week Programme

exploring issues of Mental Health

within Spiritual & Pastoral Care




COURSE AIMS


The training aims to enable participants to develop the relevant skills, knowledge and self-awareness of mental health issues to be able to provide helpful pastoral care within a community/faith setting and, or to visit patients on Surrey & Borders hospital wards in order to offer appropriate pastoral support





COURSE OBJECTIVES

SPIRITUAL & PASTORAL CARE


COURSE EXPECTATIONS


Participants are required to commit to attend a minimum of 80% of the sessions.


Reading: A small library of relevant books for student loan will be available throughout the training.


Mental Health Field Project: Participants will be expected to write and share a brief report of their research about their care setting [250 words].


OUTCOME OF TRAINING


Participants who have successfully completed the training will be better equipped to offer support for mental health issues in a community pastoral setting or will be able to apply to become a Chaplaincy Assistant for Surrey & Borders, Department of Pastoral & Spiritual Care


Participants will be encouraged to seek ongoing support and supervision for any further pastoral work they do.
