Kirklees
Raising Awareness – Cheers!!
In Kirklees we launched a poster and
mat campaign to promote the dignity in care agenda by highlighting
the 10 points of the dignity challenge on the back of a beer / coffee
mat. The mats and posters show local people who receive services
demonstrating how they have real life experiences using positive
images to promote the positive aspects of ageing and the contribution
that older people make to society.
The posters / mats have
been distributed to GP surgeries, hospitals, community bases,
luncheon clubs, residential and daycare establishments to
enable people to read and view the campaign, spread the work and
share the campaign.
We agreed the roll out and planned the
idea from our Dignity Steering Group which has representation from
our partner organisations such as Kirklees NHS, SWYMHT, VIP SECTOR,
ACUTE HOSPITALS and our various internal departments within SOCIAL
SERVICES.
The idea came from the steering group sharing
ideas about how can we get the message out there and spread the word
of the campaign and the feedback we have recieved has been
excellent.
" Fred" - They say I am famous now,
people recognise me from the posters and mats and I have been spotted
in the hospitals and in local GP surgeries.
"Betty"
Everyone mentions how lovely I look for my age and say that I have
really done good to make people stop and think about Dignity, it
makes me proud to know I am making a difference.
"Mr
and Mrs F" We have enjoyed the attention and visitors and staff
say that they think it is great that we are real people on the
posters and mats, we have enjoyed being part of the campaign.
