Purpose

The National Certificate in Christian Ministries (Level 4) is one of a set of qualifications in the Christian Theological and Ministries Education sector that provide pathways for theological education, ministry training, and Christian development.

People who have achieved the National Certificate in Christian Studies (Level 4) [Ref: 1030] may cross credit unit standards towards this qualification.

This National Certificate acknowledges the achievement of a general understanding of Christian beliefs and practices as they are expressed in one or more Christian Faith Communities. People who have achieved this qualification have a broad understanding of the nature and content of the bible and can apply basic interpretative skills. They are able to relate their understanding of Christian beliefs and practices to personal spiritual development and to service in a faith community. They are also able to communicate basic beliefs and practices to other people and, under supervision, assist others in their faith journey.

This qualification can lead on to the National Diploma in Christian Ministries (Level 5) [Ref: 1026], or the National Diploma in Christian Studies (Level 5) [Ref: 1033].

Special Notes

People may be granted recognition of prior learning (RPL) on application to the provider. Candidates for RPL must go through an assessment process carried out by registered assessors in accordance with NZQA guidelines.
