JOB PURPOSE
To strategically plan and manage the Welsh for Parents programme, To manage a team of tutors and represent the authority on National committees.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
To manage the Welsh for the Family programme across the county.
To strategically identify potential external funding opportunities.
To manage and prepare Welsh for Families grant applications for the National Welsh Learning Centre and Welsh Government
To manage a budget for developing a programme of Welsh Language informal activities across the county.
To manage and provide statistical information and reports as and when required.
To manage and co-ordinate the development of Welsh for the Family course material nationally.
Prepare and present training sessions organised by the Welsh for Adults service.
Attend National Welsh Learning Centre meetings as required on behalf of the authority . (Informal Learning)
Be aware of Welsh for Adults qualifications available for learners.
Encourage students to study qualifications where possible in order to meet national targets.
To manage and market courses on social sites such as Twitter, Facebook.
To manage and organize and co-ordinate one day and block courses ( including Easter & Summer holidays ).
To manage,organize and co-ordinate informal learning with partners.
To develop close links with Headteachers in order to provide Welsh for Parents courses in schools.
To manage, monitor, develop a team of tutors to provide Welsh for the Family Welsh courses in schools in the community.
To manage and develop quality procedures ensuring that learners have an opportunity to evaluate their learning experiences and that their voice are heard. To report to management on learner feedback.
To undertake tutor class observations on behalf of the Quality Manager.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Degree qualification with a minimum A Level qualification in Welsh. The person should also have a teaching and training and relevant Welsh teaching experience in an educational environment.
Experience of working with groups or individuals in a Community Education location.
Experience of identifying and organising training for teaching staff.
The ability to organise your own time and workload and co-ordinate tutors’ work.
Be willing to work to a flexible timetable which includes unsociable hours.
The ability to work as a member of a team.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Good organisational and administrative skills.
The ability to work independently and as part of the Learning Pembrokeshire Welsh for Adults team.
Willingness to undertake further training as required.
Skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and discussion of training needs with teaching and office staff.
Eloquent and confident in dealing with enquiries for receiving training.
Must have a full driving licence.
Good Information Technology skills.
Knowledge
A thorough knowledge of training needs is required for Welsh for Adults tutors

Additional Notes: Key Responsibilities
1. Provide teaching and learning experiences of a high standard for all students
Prepare learning materials of the highest standard which challenge and encourage students and allow for differentiation
Work within the Common Inspection Framework needs in order to provide learning and teaching experiences for all students
Provide a flexible and productive learning experience using a variety of educational methods
Ensure that students respect their work and keep folders according to internal and external requirements
Provide good written and oral feedback for students, ensuring that they understand and review their progress on a regular basis.
Ensure that attainment, success and completion targets are met.
Closely liaise with the senior tutor on all aspects of the provision.
Keep detailed records of students’ activity and report information to a relevant member of the team or agency.
2. Raising awareness of Welsh language use in the local community
Promote the progress within Welsh for Adults by providing information for students regarding the opportunities to make progress
Promote the use of Welsh in the home, in the workplace and in enterprise
Publicise courses aimed at encouraging people to study Welsh for Adults and adult learning according to the marketing guidelines of PCC.
