Why do we have to do fundraisers?

To reduce out of pocket expenses for cheer families.

What are some of the costs associated with a cheer program?

Some examples of costs associated with cheer programs: camp, spirit wear, personal uniform, teambuilding activities, camp gifts, crowd leading signs, supplies for painting spirit signs, funds to re-supply booster table sales, end of the season banquet, extras/replacements (spiritwear, poms, uniforms pieces, bags), master classes, stunt and tumbling workshops, choreography, transportation (spirit busses/charter bus for camp) and competition fees, and much more.

Who decides how fundraising profits are spent?

*It is up to the discretion of the Booster Board to vote on/approve the use of Booster funds. Regular reports on spending are made available to Booster members at parent meetings.

**It is up to the discretion of the PHS coaches, cheerleaders and administrators to approve the use of Cheer club fundraising profits.

***It is up to PHS coaches and administrators to allocate TAX CREDIT FUNDS.

What is a team fundraiser?

Team fundraisers are activity driven and require many individuals to participate in order to succeed (example: car wash). The profits gained from a team fundraiser go toward all costs associated with bolstering the cheer program. TEAM FUNDRAISERS ARE MANDATORY, attendance impacts your cheerleader’s grade. They are planned by coaches, and often by the Parent Booster Board. They are often used as much for fundraising as they are for team building. For added accountability, the booster will determine a per girl profit on each team fundraiser, although the funds will not go into individual accounts, a cheerleader who misses a TEAM FUNDRAISER (MCE) will have the per girl profit amount subtracted from any individual donation they offer toward cheer expenses.

Why are we doing all of these little individual fundraisers?

Individual fundraisers usually require your cheerleader to sell a product. This is something they can do on their own. Because the team fundraisers may not yield enough profit to cover expenses, individual fundraisers are an opportunity for families to lower their personal out of pocket expenses. These will go directly to your daughter’s portion of cheerleading expenses. (example: selling candles). Individual fundraisers are optional.

What are Tax Credits & Opt Outs?

Tax Credit and Opt outs are cash donations that you personally are directing toward your cheerleader’s expenses. Visit the http://ww2.chandler.k12.az.us information about Tax Credits. Opt outs are a way to still contribute to the team fundraiser. This ensures that money is available to cover your cheerleader’s expenses if they have NOT been able to participate in a MANDATORY fundraising event for an excused absence.

What happens if there is “extra” money in my cheerleader’s individual account at the end of the academic year?

At the end of the competition season, should your daughter have money remaining in her individual account it can be used in the following ways:

*no cash outs available on individual accounts

*funds for individual accounts that are vacated will be absorbed to the team account
