It is a European public organisation, part of the Council of Europe and based in Strasbourg, France. More detailed information can be found on the Observatory website: http://www.obs.coe.int

Description of tasks:

The specific tasks and projects a trainee will be working on, depend on projects the Observatory will be working on at the time of the internship. In general terms, the Observatory is looking for trainees interested in collaborating in the following projects:

Qualifications required:

GENERAL PRINCIPLES

Duration:

In principle three months. Trainees are welcome all year round, but period of the traineeship may be limited due to office availability or other planning considerations.

Conditions / Benefits:

Traineeship shall consist of a period of specified duration spent in the European Audiovisual Observatory. It shall afford the trainees an opportunity to form a general idea of the organisation's activities and objectives and of the questions involved in the audiovisual sector in Europe. During traineeship, the trainees will also have an opportunity to supplement and put into practice the knowledge they have acquired from their studies or professional experience.

The trainee will work under the responsibility of the Head of Department and, in most cases, under the guidance of a specialised analyst. He/she will have their own office, fully equipped, at the Observatory headquarters, 76 allée de la Robertsau, 67000 Strasbourg, France.

No remuneration is foreseen for trainees. Travel and accommodation expenses must be covered either by the trainee or his or her institution.

Although the European Audiovisual Observatory is not in a position to offer financial compensation for traineeships, trainees can benefit from their work with the Observatory in multiple ways:

The trainee will be required to respect Council of Europe rules and ethical principles.

Selection:

Level of studies :

The selection of trainees will take account of:

How to apply?

Applications should include a curriculum vitae accompanied by a letter indicating the dates of availability and the circumstances and framework within which the traineeship would take place. The candidate should indicate for which of the 5 profiles he/she is applying (more than one choice can be indicated).

Applications should be sent by post or by email to:

European Audiovisual Observatory
76 Allée de la Robertsau
F-67000 Strasbourg
E-mail:
[email protected]

Candidates will then be called for an interview or, should the circumstances require, may be interviewed by telephone.

The traineeship with the Observatory will be confirmed by a written agreement stating the dates of the traineeship, the department to which the trainee will be assigned and describing the tasks to be undertaken.

For traineeships undertaken within the framework of higher education, an agreement will be signed by the Observatory and the University or the educational institution in which the trainee is enrolled. It will include, among other provisions, details of the trainee's insurance coverage, confirming that they are covered in case of any illness or accident that may occur during the traineeship. Although the Council of Europe takes out basic insurance to cover trainees’ medical expenses, where no insurance cover is provided by the educational institution where the trainee is enrolled, private insurance for the same risks is recommended.
