We offer
memorial/honorary benches for donations of $2,000, which covers the
cost of the bench, plaque, and installation. Details may be
found on the attached document.
Under current campus
policy, we typically do not allow memorial trees due to the
possibility of disease/damage or need to relocate trees.
However, we are in the planning stages of creating a memorial grove
that would include a memorial wall with nameplates (but we would not
attach names to particular trees). We have not yet determined a
donation amount for inclusion in the memorial grove, but I would
guess it would be around $200.
For our highest level
donors or members of the campus community who have had a particularly
significant impact, we do have other types of memorials (statues,
rocks, sculptures), but these are very individualized and done on a
case-by-case basis. I hope that this is helpful to you.

Attached are our guidelines for tree and/or bench donations. We do accept donations of this kind, but are very strict w/ our policy in order to prevent the campus taking on the appearance of a cemetery. I hope you find this information helpful.

Penn State has a "Commemorative Gift Program" which covers gifts of benches and trees. I have attached the information about these gifts.
We have not had many such gifts on our campus (the Medical Center and College of Medicine), but the general rule of thumb was that the benches needed to match those already in use on campus (which then helps set the price), and trees needed to work in the overall landscaping plan.
I have also attached photos of the plaques we installed on our benches and by our trees. As an aside, we've seen the installations where the plaques are on a post (more like a garden sign), but our facilities staff were more comfortable with the concrete bases -- they felt these would hold up better and not be prone to being hit and damaged. Let me know if you have any questions.
